- Introduction to Land Management - Saturday, September 22. 8am-noon. Hitchcock Nature Center, Honey Creek. This session will cover seed harvesting and include an introduction to prescribed fire presented by Chad Graeve. $15; pre-registration required.
- Iowa State Corn Husking Competition - Competitors will compete for a spot at Nationals. This event is free to the public. Other attractions on site are SW Iowa Junk Fest with over 30 vendors, a large kids are with multiple bounce houses and other activities, a hit & miss engine demo, & draft horse buggy rides! Food trucks will be serving all day so plan to stay awhile as there is plenty to see & do! Bring the kids & enjoy the day!
- Literary Loess - Saturday, September 22. 10am-4pm. Waubonsie State Park, Hamburg. Meet regional writers and local farmers from 10-2 and join an afternoon Hike & Write from 2-4.
- Hitchcock Oak Inventory Project - Saturday, September 22. Noon-4pm. For ages 12 & Over. Free. Pre-Registration Requested.
- Nature Calls - Saturday, September 22. 6-10pm. Sioux City. A beer tasting of craft brews & select wines to raise funds for the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center. Includes nature art vendors, cash raffles, silent & live auction, great food & a commemorative mug. Sampling times from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Varieties are limited. - Pawpaw Festival - Saturday, September 22. 6-9pm. Waubonsie State Park, Hamburg. Celebrate the Fall Equinox with a pawpaw harvest. 6:00pm "pawtluck" dinner including tastes of pawpaws foraged in the park, followed by weaving and rock painting for kids, storytelling and music around a campfire, and stargazing.

- Hitchcock Nature Center Insect Club Hike & Meeting - Thursday, September 27. Hitchcock Nature Center. 5:30-7:30pm. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun with the new Hitchcock Nature Center Insect Club at their fifth & final meeting of the 2018 season, September 27th. The pre-meeting hike begins at 5:30 p.m. & the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. You do not have to attend the hike to attend the meeting.
